Winston-Salem woman accused of giving marijuana to inmate

On February 3, 2018, Alexander County 911 was notified to dispatch an officer to Alexander Correctional Institution, located at 634 Old Landfill Road in Taylorsville in reference to a subject bringing contraband into the prison. Officers arrived at the prison and spoke with the prison officials. The suspect was identified as Lashanda Renee Hill, B/F, age 36 of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Hill met with an inmate during visitation at the prison, where she handed over the contraband to the inmate. The contraband is described as 1-2 grams of marijuana. Hill was charged with Felony-Deliver Marijuana, Felony-Provide Contraband to an Inmate, Felony-Possession of Controlled Substance on a Prison/Jail Premise, and Misdemeanor-Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was transported to the Alexander County Detention Center, where she was placed under a $20,000 secured bond with a first appearance of Monday, February 5, 2018 in Alexander County District Court.
