Warrants issued in case where 60+ guns stolen from Statesville pawn shop

UPDATED PRESS RELEASE

Warrants were obtained for Mr. Da’Monte Ty’Yon Morrison, Mr. Treyvon Latrell Turner and Mr. Dakura Antrone Rickett for felony breaking and entering and two counts larceny of a firearm. Ammunitions and other items stolen from the business was located. No additional firearms were recovered.

PRESS RELEASE

On Thursday, August 22, 2019, sometime between approximately 1:30am and 4:00am, unknown persons forced entry into Bullseye Pawn located on W Front Street at Oakland Avenue in Statesville, NC. After confirming with the owners, seventy three (73) firearms to include five (5) rifles were stolen from the business. After forcing entry into the business, the suspects stole firearms located in glass cases.

Statesville Police Department working in conjunction, with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) and Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), began obtaining information and pursuing leads related to this crime. We worked throughout the night to identify suspects and recover stolen weapons. Search warrants were executed at several locations. Five (5) rifles, twelve (12) handguns and a large amount of ammunition taken from the business were recovered.

Ms. Shanita Howell (19 years old) was charged accessory after the fact. A fifteen year old juvenile was charged with felony breaking and entering and felony larceny of a firearm. Mr. Demaja Watts (20 years old) of 230 Wilson Street has outstanding warrants for one (1) count felony breaking and entering, two (2) counts larceny of a firearm. He is currently in Alexander Juvenile Detention. We are anticipating more charges and more suspects as we continue our investigation.
