Virginia man accused of stealing mail in Mooresville

This morning at approximately 5 a.m., Mooresville Police received a call of two suspicious individuals at the United States Post Office, 123 Institute Street. A witness stated suspects were stealing mail from the exterior mail drop boxes. A witness stated suspects left in a grey vehicle and provided a description of the vehicle. Sgt. Clark spotted the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Maple Street. Both suspects jumped and ran on foot from the area. One suspect was located and arrested. The other suspect has not been located at this time.

James Banks of Virginia Beach, VA was charged with Misdemeanor Larceny, Obstruct and Delay a Law Enforcement Officer, Misdemeanor Possession of Stolen Property, and Misdemeanor Damage to Property. Banks is being processed at this time.

The investigation is continuing.
