Two indicted in Alexander arson and triple-homicide

PRESS RELEASE

On June 25, 2019, a special session of grand jury met. The grand jury handed down 6 Bill Of Indictments on Areli Aguirre-Avilez. The indictments were 3 counts of first degree murder and 1 count of statutory rape of a child 15yrs of age or younger, 1 count of violation of domestic violence order with a deadly weapon. There was also an indictment of first degree arson. There were indictments handed down for Heidi Darlene Wolfe, white female . There were 3 counts of first degree murder and one count of first degree arson.

PRESS RELEASE

At approximately 11:30 pm Saturday June 15th , 911 received a call on Pine Meadows Ln. in reference to a mobile home on fire. Fire departments responded from Sugar Loaf, Vashti and Taylorsville to the fire scene. Upon arrival they discovered the mobile home fully engulfed on fire. After the fire was extinguished fireman discovered 2 deceased bodies inside the mobile home. The bodies were in different rooms of the home. The victims were badly burned beyond recognition. On Monday, June 17th an autopsy is scheduled to confirm the identities of the victims. The fire is believed to be the result of arson. SBI Agents, the SBI Arson K-9, Sheriff’s Office Detectives and the Alexander Co. Fire Marshalls Office are on the scene of the ongoing investigation. Investigators are currently seeking the whereabouts of a person of interest by the name of Areli Aguirre Avilez. Update *** At approximately 1:20 pm the person of interest was located walking on Macedonia Church Rd. The investigation in continuing.

UPDATE: On Monday, June 17, 2019, Heidi Darlene Wolfe, W/F, age 16 of Wilkesboro, NC, and Areli Aguirre Avilez, H/M, age 30 of Taylorsville, were arrested and charged with three counts of First Degree Murder in reference to the incident that occurred on Pine Meadows Lane on Saturday, June 15, 2019. Both are being held without bond, and have a scheduled first appearance date of Monday, June 24, 2019 in Alexander County District Court. There is an ongoing body recovery investigation at River Bend Park on the Catawba River on Highway 16. This investigation is continuing.
