Two facing charges after man assaulted, car shot in Lincoln County

PRESS RELEASE

Lincolnton, NC – Two people were arrested following an altercation in the 800 block of NC Highway 18 Friday afternoon (December 6, 2019) that involved a shot being fired into an occupied vehicle.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the incident after a male subject was found in the parking lot of the Vale Hardware bleeding from the head, mouth and nose.

Deputies determined that two vehicles, a gold colored Toyota Camry and a red Dodge Dakota arrived at the parking lot about the same time and an altercation occurred shortly after with Rhyan Keith Arnett of Pink Crow Road, Lawndale, NC being knocked to the ground with a head injury. Lincoln County EMS transported Arnett to Cleveland Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The occupants of the Toyota Camry fled the scene and a shot was fired at the vehicle shattering the back glass. Deputies located a rifle and ammunition in the red Dodge Dakota. Lincoln County Sheriff Deputy M. Farra and Burke County deputies went to a residence in Burke County where they located the Toyota Camry.

Detective J. Lail charged one of the occupants of the Toyota, Christian Thomas Carpenter, 20, of Rocky Ridge Road, Connelly Springs, NC with assault causing serious bodily injury. He was jailed under a $10,000 secured bond.

Christopher Lee Saylor, 30, of Kinglet Road, Connelly Springs, NC was charged with one count of discharging a weapon into an occupied moving vehicle. He was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond.
