Two charged in 2017 Statesville homicide

STATESVILLE, NC: Over the past 7 months, the Violent Crimes Collaborative has arrested and charged over 30 individuals for various shooting and armed robbery cases that occurred from the end of 2017 into early 2018. They continue to work closely with the District Attorney’s office to organize those cases as they prepare for court proceedings, however, they are also focusing on some of the agency’s less recent violent crime cases that remain active.

On Tuesday November 21, 2018, warrants were obtained on Teshami Juwan Treshon Vick, 26 B/M of Wilkesboro, and Fredrick Cherry, 22 B/M of Statesville, in connection to the homicide of Shawn Antwan Holmes, who was 19 at the time of his murder in July 2017.

Both Vick and Cherry are currently in custody in the counties of Halifax and Alexander, respectively, on unrelated charges, and will each be served with a warrant for First Degree Murder. These charges are a result of the combined effort of the NC State Bureau of Investigation, Statesville Police Department and District Attorney Sarah Kirkman.

The Collaborative reports that others that will be charged in connection to the Holmes’ homicide at a later date.
