Tuesday marks one-year anniversary of Statesville shooting death

STATESVILLE, NC: As we near the anniversary of the shooting death of 19-year old Shaun Holmes, Statesville Police Chief Barone reassures the Holmes family and the entire community that the Statesville Police Department is dedicated to the successful arrest and prosecution of those involved in this murder.

“The Violent Crime Collaborative and all of its local, state and federal resources are working tirelessly on reducing violent crime,” said Statesville Police Chief Joe Barone. “Our commitment can be seen by the steady closures of violent crime cases over the past six months with more frequent arrests of those responsible and successful prosecutions.”

Although Barone cannot speak on specifics about the active investigation of the Holmes’ case, Barone stressed that violent crime cases are a priority, and again asks anyone with information about the case to contact Statesville Police at 704-878-3406 or Iredell Crime-Stoppers at 704-662-1340. Callers can remain anonymous and a cash reward is possible.
