The Troutman Police Department has teamed up with Flock Safety

In an effort to combat crime in the rapidly growing Troutman area, The Troutman Police Department has teamed up with Flock Safety, an automated license plate camera developer based out of Georgia. Through this partnership, Flock Safety has installed two cameras near our high crime areas on a trial basis.

The first full day of full operation, the automated system notified officers of a stolen vehicle. Officers located the stolen vehicle a short time later. Both subjects, Ray Simmons and Douglas Pegram both from Greensboro NC, were arrested. The subjects were charged with possession stolen motor vehicle, possession stolen property, possession methamphetamine, heroin and oxycodone pills. More charges
will follow pending further evidence processing and both subjects have extensive criminal histories.

Its technology like this and building partnerships with the private sector and neighboring law enforcement agencies that helps Troutman law enforcement protect its five schools, residents, visitors, and businesses from criminal activity.
