Teen’s head grazed by bullet in Statesville shooting

PRESS RELEASE

Around 2300hrs on Sunday, February 10, 2019, SPD telecommunications received a call from ECOMM regarding a possible gun shot wound victim in the 500 block of Brevard St. Responding officers set up a perimeter to secure the scene, however no suspect or weapon was located.

A 16-year-old male was inside the residence, coherent and walking around at the time officers arrived, with what appeared to be a grazing wound to the back of the head. The victim was transported to Baptist Medical Center as a precaution due to the location of the injury, and was treated and released.

The SPD Violent Crime Unit responded to process the scene and interview witnesses. Statesville PD will continue to investigate this incident and will release more information as it is available.
