Suspicious activity call leads ends with felony B&E charges for teens

Sherriff Darren Campbell stated: On Wednesday, July 3, 2019 Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a suspicious activity call at 224 Alpine Circle Statesville.

The homeowner’s son told the responding deputies, he had come to the residence to get a boat. He told them he had noticed a BMW parked on the road near the home. When he pulled into the driveway, he saw four young men running from the rear of on outbuilding.

The caller said he then chased after the suspects, one of which he knew as Alex Evans, who used to work for his father. The four men ran to the BMW still parked near the roadside.

The reporting person caught up to the suspects, and spoke with Evans. Evans told the caller he was there working on a four-wheeler. The caller took a picture of the car’s license plate with his phone before the four men drove away.

The responding deputies took this information, and soon made contact with Evans. Evans along with the other suspects returned to the scene.

Detectives, and Crime Scene Investigators were called to assist in the investigation. Detectives interviewed the homeowner. They also discovered an outbuilding had been broken into, and numerous items had been removed from it.

After stealing the items, all four suspects then attempted to steal the victim’s four wheelers, by re-wiring the ignition switches.

The four suspects, Zane White, Alexander Evans, William Suber, and John Bayne were interviewed, and then taken into custody. They were then taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where they were each were charged with: Felony Breaking and Entering, Felony Larceny, Felony Attempted Larceny and Injury to Real Property.

Zane Marshal White, 16 Years Old, was released to parents. White has pending charges of Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana.

Alexander Scott Evans, 18 Years Old received an 8000.00 dollars secured bond. Evans has previous convictions of Misdemeanor Interfere with Electric Monitor Device and Injury to Real Property.

William Tyler Suber, 17 Years Old, received a 10,000.00 dollars secured bond. Suber has pending charges of Felony Breaking and Entering and Misdemeanor Possession of Paraphernalia.

John Lewis Bayne, 17 Years Old, received a 2000.00 dollars secured bond. Bayne has a pending charge of Reckless Driving.

All bonds were set by Magistrate S. Nicholson.
