Suspect wanted in stabbing over weekend in Lincoln County

Lincolnton, NC – Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies responded to two unrelated stabbing incidents over the weekend.
On June 28, 2019 at 8:45 p.m. deputies were dispatched to the 5300 block of Silver Lane, Iron Station, NC reference a physical domestic. When deputies arrived they found Kendrick Chazz Prather sitting in the driveway with several stab wounds that were being treated by his girlfriend.

Deputies learned that Brain Keith McDonald, 51, of Iron Station, NC had a hit a female at the residence causing her to lose consciousness. Prather attempted to intervene which lead a physical altercation and was stabbed by McDonald. Brian McDonald fled into a wooded area nearby and was apprehended on the morning of June 29, 2019. He is charged with misdemeanor assault on a female and felony assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill and inflicting serious injury. He was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $40,000 secured bond.

On June 29, 2019 deputies responded to a stabbing incident that occurred at a residence in the 6300 block of Topaz Lane. When they arrived on the scene officers discovered the victim, Barron Lynn Smith, in a bathroom with several stab wounds. Deputies applied a tourniquet to the wound until Lincoln County EMS arrived on the scene. The suspect and three other people had already fled the scene. A warrant was issued charging Zachary Allen Clinkscales, 34, of Kannapolis with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. He has not been apprehended.
