Statesville PD seeks to identify man in gas station robbery

PRESS RELEASE

On Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at approximately 2158hrs, SPD Telecommunications received a hold up alarm activation from the Royal Express gas station at 1501 E Broad St. Just after the alarm activation was received, dispatch received a call from the store clerk reporting that an unknown black male had just robbed the store.

Officers responded to the scene and spoke with the clerk who stated that a black male entered the store with a mask covering his face and demanded money while pointing a knife at her. The suspect was able to get cash and two cartons of cigarettes before fleeing on foot. Officers canvassed the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

Violent Crime Unit investigators also responded to the scene and have been actively investigating the case. Investigators have provided several photos of a person of interest connected to this incident and are seeking the public’s help in identifying the male pictured below.
