Statesville PD: Man facing assault charges arrested following chase

5-14-18 – Officers were conducting surveillance in the 1000 Block of 5th St. A car was seen speeding away from the area at a very high rate of speed. SPD Officers caught up with the car and tried to stop same on Wilson Lee, just North of Garner Bagnal. The car quickly turned into a driveway off Wilson Lee, and the driver, Kaylan Brandon jumped out of the car and fled on foot. He let the car continue on through the yard, striking a fence in the back yard. Brandon ran around the house, where he fell, and was taken into custody without incident.

Brandon had marijuana and ecstacy on his person, and crack cocaine was found in the driver seat of the car. Brandon was charged with Misd. Flee to elude, Resist, Poss. Sch II, Poss. Sch VI, Poss. Sch I. Brandon also had warrants outstanding for: Assault by strangulation, B&E to terrorize, Assault on a female, a Felony probation violation/Absconder.

Brandon was held on a Secured bond of $25,000 for the new charges, and held on NO bond for the warrants served.
