Statesville PD looking for teen in February shooting investigation

PRESS RELEASE

On February 24, 2019 Statesville Police Department Patrol Division responded to the area of Ballingarry Drive reference to shots fired. Upon arrival officers spoke with several witnesses who stated they heard approximately 4-5 gun shots from 2 unknown suspects who were seen walking toward the intersection of Ballingarry Drive at Cappoquin Drive.

Members of the Statesville Police Violent Crime Unit followed-up on the shots fired incident. Details learned during the investigation led to the identification of two suspects who were allegedly involved in a fight with another subject and discharged a firearm during the altercation. On March 13, 2019, a 15-year-old juvenile was identified and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, possession of a firearm by a minor and shooting into an occupied dwelling.

Neptali Adam Martinez, 17, of Russell St, has been charged with accessory before the fact, possession of a handgun by a minor and simple assault in connection to the February 24th incident.

Investigators have been unable to locate Martinez and are seeking the public’s help for information of his whereabouts.
