Sheriffs Office: Over 1.5 pounds of marijuana seized during traffic stop

PRESS RELEASE

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Monday, June 3, 2019 members of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, Interstate Criminal Enforcement (ICE) Team stopped a Kia Optima for traffic violations Interstate 77Northbound near the 63 Mile Marker.

During the course of the traffic stop, deputies employed a K9 to perform a free air sniff of the car. The Sheriff’s Office K9 indicated for the presence and odor of a narcotics in the car.

Deputies conducted a hand search of the vehicle where they uncovered 714.3 grams of marijuana in several different forms, from liquid THC, to gummy candies, marijuana buds, and a vacuum packaging device.

Additionally, the deputies discovered a .223 caliber rifle and three fully loaded magazines for the rifle. Other items discovered a hooded mask, gloves, and other head coverings throughout the vehicle.

Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Detectives, and other detectives are still investigating this matter.

Turner was transported him to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with; Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Marijuana, Felony Possession of Marijuana, and Felony Maintain a Vehicle, Dwelling or Place for controlled substance

Turner was taken before Magistrate R. Imes who issued a 50,000.00 dollars secured bond for these charges. Other charges may arise from further investigations in the case.
