Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Tuesday August 9, 2018, a report was filed with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a Cyber Tip received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
In the report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, it indicated a Skype account was being used to send and received images of nude juveniles engaged in sex acts. The case was assigned to Detective Sergeant J. Lowrance of the Special Victims Unit for further investigation.
During the course of the investigation detectives were able to obtain information as to where the images were being uploaded and downloaded and the owner of the account used. Detective Sgt. Lowrance was able to obtain a search warrant for the residence located at 242 Chestnut Grove Road Statesville.
The search warrant was executed on the residence on Friday October 5, 2018 by members of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office. During the search of the residence more images were discovered on the suspect’s computer.
Based on interviews and evidence gathered during this investigation, detectives were able to obtain six Felony Arrest Warrants for Third-Degree Sexual Exploitation of Minor.
The suspect, Brian Scott Harden was arrested at the residence without incident. Harden was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was served with the six warrants for Felony Third-Degree Sexual Exploitation of Minor. Brian Scott Harden received a 75,000.00 dollars secured bond from Magistrate M. Nethken.
Additional charges were brought forward as the investigation continued and Harden was served with three additional charges for Second-Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. Harden received an additional 150,000.00 dollars secured bond on these charges.
