Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received information stating, Mr. Bosquez who lived in a camper at VanHoy Campground and currently loading drugs into his vehicle and preparing to leave the area.
Lt. D. Summers along with Deputy Pennell responded to the location and were able to locate Jose Luis Bosquez. After speaking with Bosquez, enough information was gathered to conduct a investigation into the alleged drugs.
A narcotics detective was called to respond to the scene. A search was conducted, and Bosquez was found to be in possession of a large quantity of methamphetamine, heroin, United States currency, counterfeit United States and a loaded .22 caliber revolver pistol.
Bosquez was arrested on scene and a criminal records data base search, revealed he is also a convicted felon.
Jose Luis Bosquez was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with; Felony Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell Heroin, Felony Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Felony Possession of Counterfeit United States Currency. Magistrate S. Nicholson, issued Bosquez a 200,000.00 dollars secured bond.
Jose Luis Bosquez has a criminal record spanning across North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Wisconsin, and Arizona. Bosquez is a repeat offender including Habitual Felon, Possession of Firearms by Convicted Felon. Felony Possession of Controlled Substances, Assault on a Female, Kidnapping-False Imprisonment, Assault on Government Official, Felony Breaking and Entering, Felony Larceny, Felony Larceny of Motor Vehicle, and several Misdemeanor driving charges.
Sheriff Campbell stated “These are exactly the type of repeat offenders who need to be locked away and kept away from our community”.
