Sheriff’s Office: Driver sleeping at car wash flees after being woken by deputy

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: In the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 14, 2019 Deputy C. Hondlik was conducting a security check at the Harmony Carwash on East memorial Highway in Harmony, when she located a vehicle in one of the carwash stalls.

Upon Deputy Hondlik’s approach she noticed a male passed out behind the wheel of the vehicle. While attempting to wake the driver up, he woke up and drove off quickly. Deputy Hondlik was able to get a license plate number. It was determined the registered owner Joseph Linn Reid of Mr. Henry Road in Mocksville, North Carolina was wanted on an outstanding Probation and Parole Warrant.

The vehicle drove West on Memorial Highway. Deputy Hondlik activated her blue lights and sirens, and attempted to stop the truck, but the suspect would not stop. Deputy Hondlik pursued the vehicle to Interstate 77 where the vehicle turned south.

Deputy D. Caskaddon deployed Stop Sticks on Interstate 77 just north of Exit 55. The suspect vehicle ran over the sticks deflating three of four tires. The vehicle continued traveling south and came to a stop before exit 54.

The drive, identified as Joseph Linn Reid, and a passenger Andrea Ferrebee was removed from the vehicle, and taken into custody. A search of the suspect vehicle located methamphetamine, and items of drug paraphernalia. Both subjects were taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where Deputy Hondlik charged Joseph Linn Reid with the following: Felony Flee to Elude, Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Felony Maintain a Vehicle for the Use of a Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Resist Obstruct and Delay, Misdemeanor Careless and Reckless, Left of Center, and a Registration Plate Violation. Magistrate J. Hollar issued Reid a 20,000.00 dollar secured bond on these charges, along with a No Bond Order for the Probation Violation

Andrea Ferrebee was charged with: Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Felony Maintain a Vehicle for the Use of a Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Resist Obstruct and Delay.

Magistrate J. Holler issued Ferrebee a 10,000.00 dollar secured bond on the above listed charges.
