Lincolnton, NC – Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies escaped injury when a man shot through the door of his home as the officers knocked on the door Wednesday night around 8:30 p.m.
After deputies arrived on the scene of a shots fired call and spoke to the reporting party they went to a residence in the 6100 block of Nolen Acres Lane. Once at the front door of the residence two deputies reported shots being fired from inside the home. The deputies retreated from the home and took cover as additional officers arrived on the scene to assist.
After a short standoff Norman Jefferson Nolen, 77, of 6125 Nolen Acres Lane, Iron Station, NC was taken into custody. Detectives conducted multiple interviews with witnesses and processed the scene. Nolen was charged with one count of felony assault on a law enforcement officer with a firearm. He was taken before a Lincoln County magistrate and placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $30,000 secured bond.
No one was injured during the incident. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division along with patrol officers from the Charlie, Baker and Adam Districts and the North Carolina Highway Patrol assisted in the case.
