Sheriff’s Office: 2 facing child abuse charges after marijuana grow operation found

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Thursday, May 2, 2019 Sergeants E. Line and R. Sherrill of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team went to 428 Pilch Road, near Troutman with investigators from the Iredell County Department of Social Services, to investigate a complaint which had received from concerned citizens.

After arrival at the home, Sgt. Line contacted the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division for assistance with the investigation. After obtaining a Search Warrant for the residence it was searched and a marijuana growing operation was located in room inside the home. Numerous additional items paraphernalia, and contraband were also located inside the home.

Two small children were also present in the residence during the search. The Department of Social Services took custody of them for their safety and wellbeing.

Sgt. Line arrested Jamie Dawn Hill for Felony Manufacturing Marijuana, Felony Maintaining a Dwelling Place to Sell or Use Controlled Substances, Misdemeanor Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia. Hill was issued a 5,000.00 dollar secured bond by Magistrate T. Thompson on these charges. Joseph Watson Perrigan was also arrested for Felony Manufacturing Marijuana, Felony Maintaining a Dwelling Place to Sell or Use Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, he was also served with an outstanding Warrant for Arrest in addition to a Fugitive Warrant. Perrigan was placed under a 106,000.00 dollars secured bond by Magistrate S. Nicholson

Also arrested in the home was Christopher Dale Troutman for an outstanding warrant related to the sales of narcotics. He was also found to be in the Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Jamie Dawn Hill, and Joseph Watson Perrigan have since been incarcerated at the Iredell County Detention Center awaiting trial in these matters.

The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division continued to work with the Iredell County Department of Social Services on this investigation due to the young children having been in the home.

On Tuesday, May 14, 2019 after receiving conformation the children, who are aged 3 months, and 1 and ½ years old, were exposed to several different illegal narcotics, detectives filed additional abuse charges against Jamie Dawn Hill and Joseph Watson Perrigan.

Jamie Hill was charged with two counts of Misdemeanor Child Abuse, and two counts of Misdemeanor Contribute to Delinquency of a Juvenile by Neglect. Joseph Watson was also charged with two counts of Misdemeanor Child Abuse, and two counts of Misdemeanor Contribute to Delinquency of a Juvenile by Neglect. Both received additional 30,000.00 dollars secured bond for these charges from Magistrate M. Nethken.
