Sheriff: Possible kidnapping victim texted 911 for help, rescued in Troutman


TROUTMAN, NC (WSIC) – A fifteen year-old girl who is possibly the victim of a kidnapping was rescued during an I-77 traffic stop in Iredell County Saturday evening, according to Sheriff Darren Campbell.

The girl texted 911 for help and communications relayed information to deputies who located the vehicle on I-77 north near the Amity Hill Road exit around 7:00.

Campbell says the situation appears to be “parental” in nature and that no charges have been filed as they wait on information from investigators in Georgia. Three adults and the teen are in custody in Iredell County. According to the Sheriff, one of the adults is the girl’s father who is from Pennsylvania. The relationship of the other two adults was not immediately available.
