Sheriff: Neighborhood tips led to arrest of Statesville man on drug charges

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Tuesday, January 8, 2019 the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Investigations Unit, and the Sheriff’s Office Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) conducted an early morning a search warrant at 424 Harrison Street in Statesville.

Narcotics Investigators conducted surveillance on this location. They observed criminal activity at the home. Purchases of cocaine were made by undercover investigators from the home. This new information, confirmed investigators suspicions about the home and verified information which had been received from community members.

The search warrant was obtained and executed. Two people were in the home at the time of the entry. Located in the home was a substantial amount of cocaine, and items consistent with packaging, and selling cocaine and marijuana.

Dario Dewitt Weaver was arrested on scene and transported to the Iredell Detention Center where he was charged with: Felony Possession with Intent to Sell and Cocaine, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana and Felony Maintain a Vehicle/Dwelling or Place to Sell Controlled Substances. Magistrate M. Nethken issued a 50,000.00 dollars secured bond on these charges.

Sheriff Campbell also stated, “The citizens of this community, and law enforcement agencies across Iredell County have made it clear, we are tired of career drug dealers continuing to sell illegal drugs, which cause other types of criminal activity in our neighborhoods. As confirmed by the numerous criminal convictions of this suspect for possession and sales of drugs and other crimes”.
