If it happens to you, tell someone.

That’s the message of a Statesville woman who says she and her mother were forced into a shelter situation after accusing her grandfather of sexually touching her. Kinsleigh Broome and her mother Deborah shared their stories with WSIC:

Kinsleigh Broome took out private charges against her grandfather, Gary Ray. He was arrested on two counts of misdemeanor sexual battery. Kinsleigh and her mother Deborah had been living with him.

Deborah Broome has a job, but works from home and is presently without an internet connection to do it. She says they’re looking at options for housing. Kinsleigh has established a GoFundMe to help the two with expenses during their transition.

Ray did not return WSIC’s request for comment.
