Moped rider injured in South Statesville shooting

Statesville NC: On Monday afternoon, August 21, 2017, SPD officers responded to a reported shooting in the Caldwell St. Area. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, a 34 year old Statesville man suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the foot. The victim had been riding a Moped on Durham Ave. near Caldwell St. when shots were fired from an unknown direction, striking the victim.

The victim was transported to a local medical facility for treatment. Investigators responded to the scene for follow-up investigation. The case is still ongoing.
