MOORESVILLE, NC (WSIC) – A Mooresville police officer is dead after being shot during what was first considered a routine traffic stop on Highway 150 (West Plaza Drive) shortly after 10:00 Saturday night.
K9 Officer Jordan Harris Sheldon, 32, had been with the department for six years before he was shot during Saturday’s traffic stop. He was taken to a Charlotte hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police say the suspect in the shooting fled the scene and was located deceased in a nearby apartment from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
