Mooresville man sentenced in 2014 homicide

MOORESVILLE, N.C. – On October 11, 2014, the Mooresville Police Department responded to a double shooting that took place in front of 604 Ashe Street. Four individuals were identified as being involved with this incident.

Marquise Leon Dalton, 28, was found with a single gunshot wound to the chest and later pronounced dead at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.

Demitree Lenoy Adkins, 26, who had a gunshot wound to his lower left leg, was found responsible for Dalton’s death and charged with Murder in the First Degree and Possession of a Stolen Firearm. On June 8, 2018, Adkins pleaded guilty to Murder in the Second Degree in Iredell County Superior Court and was sentenced to a minimum of 23 years and a maximum of 28.667.

As part of the investigation, Ka’Darryl Andrew Everhart, 28, was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and later arrested on a Federal Indictment.

Demarae Tyrell Campbell, 23, was charged with Discharging a Weapon into an Occupied Vehicle and Discharging a Firearm within Town Limits.
