Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Sunday, December 30, 2018 Deputy C. Little responded to 207 Tammy Drive in reference to a civil disturbance concerning two dogs being shot. Upon arrival Deputy Little and Deputy B. Gudgeon spoke to Stephanie Marie Miller who advised the deputies her dog had been shot and was severely injured.

After further investigation and interviewing the suspect, Fred Thomas Wright, of 229 Tammy Drive Mooresville, it was determined Wright had shot the two dogs. Wright claimed the dogs killed one of his roosters. Deputies went to the residence and located a deceased dog, which had been shot, on Wright’s property but did not locate a rooster or any signs of a rooster being killed.

Wright was arrested on scene then transported to Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with two Felony Counts of Cruelty to Animals. He was given a written promise bond by Magistrate M. Nethken.
