Man out of prison for murder charged in Statesville bank robbery

Mr. Wayne Anthony Williams was charged by the Statesville Police Department for the armed robbery of the State Employees Credit Union on July 8, 2019. His charges included Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Conspiracy of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon. Mr. Williams was arrested by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Department and was taken before a magistrate who gave Mr. Williams a $30,000.00 secured bond on these charges. The driver of the suspect vehicle was given a $150,000.00 secured bond and was charged with accessory before and after the crime.

Mr. Williams was recently released from prison for First Degree Murder which occurred during the commission of a robbery in 2005 and is currently on probation.
