Lincoln County man sentenced to 10 years on drug charges

PRESS RELEASE

Lincolnton, NC – A Lincoln County man has been sentenced to a maximum of ten years in prison after pleading guilty in Lincoln County Superior Court Tuesday. (January 21, 2020)

Christopher O’Neil Smith, 32, of Lakeland Avenue, Lincolnton, NC was arrested after being indicted by the Lincoln County Grand Jury in December 2018. He was given a sentence of a minimum 90 months to a maximum 120 months in the North Carolina Department of Corrections.

Neighbors filed complaints about drug activity in the area of Smith’s home on Lakeland Avenue and that prompted the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division to begin an investigation.
According to detectives, surveillance and undercover techniques were used to purchase various amounts of drugs from Smith on multiple occasions.

Smith pleaded guilty to possession with intent to manufacture a controlled substance Schedule I, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a controlled substance Schedule I, and possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a controlled substance Schedule III.
