Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Monday, November 18, 2019, Pierson Worth Colbert was taken into custody stemming from a traffic stop conducted in Yadkin County. Colbert was in the stolen truck reported earlier today. He was positively identified.
He is currently in custody. When additional information becomes available, we will send it out.

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Monday, November 18, 2019, deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office were sent to 315 Indian Hill Road, in reference to an assault at 5:11 am.
When the deputies arrived on scene, they discovered, Robert John Quinn, 44 year old of 301 Indian Hill Road, lying in the driveway with obvious wounds to his head. Quinn was later pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies secured the scene, and started interviewing witnesses. Witnesses described being awakened to a knock at their door. The suspect, Pierson Worth Colbert told one of the witnesses he, and the victim, “Had gotten into it really big this time.”
The suspect ran from the scene. A short time later another call was received by 911 stating someone was attempting to gain entry into a home on Tulbert Road. Deputies responded to this location, while responding, a deputy met the suspect vehicle. This vehicle almost struck the deputy head on.
A few hours later, a call was received from 410 Zion Liberty Road about a stolen vehicle. Deputies responded to this location, where they located the original suspect vehicle, a Nissan Sentra, with paperwork containing the suspect’s name. A 1996 GMC Sonoma truck, dark green in color with a tag number of PCB-2545, was reported stolen.
Detectives were able to obtain warrants on Pierson Worth Colbert with Murder, and Felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle. Colbert should be considered armed and dangerous. He is entered as a Wanted Person by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives will continue to work this case round the clock, and are actively following up on leads along with additional incoming information. There will continue to be a heavy law enforcement presence in this area.
