Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Thursday, November 29, 2018, detectives with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office began investigating a residential breaking and entering on Ashbrook Road near Statesville.

An Amazon Firestick belonging to the victim was among the items stolen from the residence, along with two firearms. The victim soon noticed the Firestick was being used to access his Netflix account, as programs were displayed which the victim had not viewed.

Netflix and Amazon were able to provide an Internet Protocol (IP) address from which the suspect had accessed and viewed the programs. Sheriff’s Office detectives sent a Search Warrant to the Internet Service Provider for identification of the account holder. While waiting for the search warrant results, Jakob Treston Parsons was developed as a suspect in this incident by a second report from the victim’s neighbor, who returned home to find him on the property.

Search Warrant results confirmed the stolen Amazon Firestick was used at Parsons’ residence in western Iredell County. As a result, a warrant was issued for Parsons’ arrest on January 28, 2019. Parsons was arrested and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with; Felony Breaking and Entering a Building, Felony Larceny after Breaking and Entering, and Felony Larceny of a Firearm. Magistrate P. Tutterrow issued Parsons a 5,000.00 dollar secure bond on these charges.
