Four charged in Statesville bank robbery investigation

PRESS RELEASE

On July 08, 2019 at approximately 12:41 hours, three male suspects robbed the State Employees Credit Union located at 1742 Wilkesboro Hwy., Statesville NC. Members of the Statesville Police Department Violent Crime Unit, Criminal Investigations Division and Patrol Division responded to the area. Approximately 10 minutes after the robbery, officers located the white Honda Accord which was used as the getaway vehicle abandoned on the side of the road on Wheatridge Drive, Statesville. The vehicle had been taken by gunpoint in Charlotte on July 05, 2019.

Members of the Statesville Police Violent Crime Unit continued the investigation into the robbery and located the secondary getaway vehicle, a white 2000 Ford Explorer.

With the assistance of ATF and the FBI, Violent Crime Investigators conducted multiple interviews and assisted with numerous warrantless searches with North Carolina Department of Correction, Probation Officers.

On July 24, 2019 Cpl. P.C. Wolfe obtained warrants for Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle on Quentin Cowan, 28, of Statesville, and Wayne Anthony Williams, 33, of Statesville.

Quentin Cowan was arrested and taken before Magistrate Thompson where he received a $300,000.00 secured bond. Wayne Williams is currently in custody at Burke County CRV on a probation violation that occurred on July 11, 2019 as a result of a warrantless search conducted by Probation Officers and members of the Statesville Violent Crime Unit. Williams will be transferred to Iredell County served with the outstanding warrants.

Warrants were also obtained on Michael Anthony Terry and Sierra Brooke Goble. Michael Terry, 28, of Statesville, was arrested and charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Terry was taken before Magistrate Thompson where he received a $300,000.00 secured bond.

Sierra Brooke Goble, 19, of Statesville, was arrested and charged with Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon. She was taken before Magistrate Thompson where she was given a $150,000.00 secured bond.
