Counterfeit bills, drugs located during traffic stop

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Sunday, April 14, 2019 at approximately 6:00 p.m. Sgt. W.E. Line with the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team conducted a traffic stop on a Ford Explorer for a traffic violation.

Sgt. Line spoke with the, Jason Craig Connolly, about the violation. While speaking with Connolly, Sgt. Line observed a glass pipe on the center console of the vehicle which is used to smoke methamphetamine.

Sgt. Line asked Connolly to get out of the Explorer, and have a seat in the front passenger seat of his patrol car while checking on his driver’s license status. While checking this information, it was discovered Connolly had two outstanding felony probation warrants. Connolly was placed under arrest.

A search of Connolly’s vehicle was conducted due to the drug paraphernalia being in plain view. During the search of the vehicle Sgt. Line located methamphetamine, and additional drug paraphernalia. Sgt. Line also located eighty three one hundred dollar bills which were fictitious. The female passenger, Ashley Dawn Jenkins, was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and fourteen counterfeit one hundred bills. Both suspects were taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where Jason Craig Connolly was charged with: Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Felony Possession of Counterfeit Currency along with the two Felony Probation Violation. Magistrate T. Thompson issued Connolly a 30,000.00 dollar secured bond on these charges. Connolly is currently out on bond for Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, and Manufacture Schedule II Substance.

Ashley Dawn Jenkins was charged with: Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Felony Possession of Counterfeit Currency. Magistrate T. Thompson issued Jenkins a 7500.00 dollars secured bond for these charges.
