Check point results in felony drug charges for Mooresville teen

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: In the early morning hours of Thursday, July 25, 2019 Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Deputy W. Goforth, and other deputies were conducting a driver’s license checking in the area of Brawley School, and Chuckwood Road.

Deputy Goforth stopped a silver Tahoe operated by Matthew Decker in the vehicle line. While Decker was handing Deputy Goforth his license, Deputy Goforth observed in plain view a homemade marijuana smoking pipe.

Decker’s vehicle was searched. Deputies located marijuana in the center console of the vehicle, along with 35 THC vape capsules which were also in the vehicle.

Matthew Arthur Decker was arrested on scene. He was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with: Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Synthetic Cannabinoid, Felony Possession of Synthetic Cannabinoid, Felony Maintain a Vehicle to Sell Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, and Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia. Magistrate J. Hollar issued Decker a 5,000.00 dollars secured bond on these charges.
