Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received a report from Randy Marion Ford about a man going by the name of Timothy Eric Dennis Jr., having come into the business and purchasing a 2017 Cadillac Escalade. The dealership was then notified by the real Timothy Eric Dennis Jr., stating he had received a credit alert about a purchase of a vehicle which he had not made.
The dealership staff verified the information on the South Carolina Driver’s license which had identified Dennis as the purchaser of the vehicle. Upon receiving the information about the Escalade being bought with fraudulent information, they contacted the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives acted quickly entering the Escalade as stolen. The vehicle was recovered, undamaged, in Raleigh. It was determined the vehicle had already been re-sold.
The Raleigh Police Department were able to arrest two people who were in possession of the vehicle.
Detective D. Wyatt verified through this investigation, multiple vehicles across multiple jurisdictions, and neighboring states have been fraudulently obtained in the same manner.
Detective Wyatt identified the suspect who acquired the Cadillac Escalade as, Shawnn Laron Summers of Charlotte, and Felony Arrest Warrants have been issued for Felony Identity Theft, and Felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Shawnn Laron Summers is asked to call the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office 704-878-3100, or the Iredell County Crime Stoppers Hotline 704-662-1340.
