Catawba County Residents Charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine

   

Lowell Thomas Messer (42 yoa) and Angela Marie Rice (40 yoa) have been charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine. These charges stem from a traffic stop conducted by the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office (SEG) Special Enforcement Group.

On 05/18/2020 SEG Investigators observed Messer operating a vehicle which was traveling along U S Hwy 321 in Maiden. SEG Investigators, aware that Messer’s driver’s license was revoked, conducted a traffic stop. During that traffic stop SEG investigators located and seized 353 grams of Methamphetamine from Messer’s vehicle.

Messer, out on bond following a previous arrest on 04/22/2020 for narcotics violations, has been charged in this case with Trafficking in Methamphetamine and Driving While License Revoked.  Messer has been issued a $30,000.00 secured bond and has a first appearance in Catawba County District Court on 06/09/2020.

Rice, a passenger in Messer’s vehicle, has been charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine and was issued a $1,000.00 secured bond. Rice has a first appearance in Catawba County District Court on 06/09/2020.
