Catawba convenience store robbed by person wearing skeleton mask

PRESS RELEASE

On 01/12/2020 at 7:56 p.m. Catawba County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Lookout Market, which is a convenience store located at the corner of Oxford School Rd and River Bend Rd. When deputies arrived they learned that a person, whose face was obscured by a mask with a skeletal face imprinted on it, entered the store armed with a handgun and demanded money. The suspect obtained a quantity of U S currency and fled on foot. A patron arriving at this store as the suspect was fleeing gave chase but was not able to apprehend them.

Deputies utilized a K-9 in an effort to track this suspect but were unable to locate them.

This suspect is believed to be a male whose race and age are unknown at this time. The suspect has a medium build and appears to be between 5 ft 8 inchs to 5 ft 10 inchs in height. The suspect was wearing a tan in color hoodie style sweat shirt, camouflage BDU style pants and tennis shoes. The suspect was also wearing latex gloves which appeared to be blue in color.

The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is investigating.
