Authorities identify man believed to have been killed by Iredell ammonia leak

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Friday, January 10, 2020, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office was called to 3776 Taylorsville Highway, to investigate a death of a worker at this facility.

There was a chemical leak at the facility which cause two workers to be injured. Anthony Edward Lamattina, of Woodstock, Georgia was pronounced dead at the scene. Carson Brandon Drawdy was taken from the scene by EMS to be treated for his injuries.

The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office is currently waiting on information from the Medical Examiner’s Office for additional information to conclude our investigation.

From initial reports, both men were working on pipes in a freezer unit when the chemical leak occurred.
