Atlanta men accused of check fraud scheme arrested in Iredell

Sheriff Darren E. Campbell stated: On Friday, September 20, 2019 detectives with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Economic Crime Unit were called to assist the North Carolina Highway Patrol on a traffic stop on Interstate 77 in northern Iredell County.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol Criminal Interdiction Unit had conducted a vehicle stop on a Dodge Caravan. During the preliminary investigation, dozens of checks were found located along with check stock, and electronic devices. At this point, the troopers called for assistance from the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office

Detectives arrived, and began working the case. They quickly determined some of the checks in the vehicle were stolen from other states. Based on information gathered during the investigation, detectives determined the occupants of the vehicle were producing counterfeit checks based on the stolen checks. This investigation in ongoing at this time.

The four suspects were arrested and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where they were charged with the following:

James Chapman, 27 Years Old
Decatur, Georgia
Charge: Felony Possession of Stolen Goods.
Bond: 30,000.00 Dollars Secured Bond.

Rashad Derrell Rogers, 28 Years Old
Decatur, Georgia
Charges: Felony Possession of Stolen Goods, Misdemeanor Assault on a Government Official, Misdemeanor Resist, Obstruct or Delay a Public Officer.
Bond: 45,000.00 Dollars Secured Bond.

Sequidia Martez Corbitt, 29 Years Old
Atlanta, Georgia
Charge: Felony Possession of Stolen Goods.
Bond: 30,000.00 Dollars Secured Bond.

Travis Jacolby Davis, 31 Years Old
Atlanta, Georgia
Charge: Felony Possession of Stolen Goods
Bond: 30,000.00 Dollars Secured Bond.
