Argument with mom helps deputies find man accused of stealing fishing gear

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Sunday, October 27, 2019 the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a breaking and entering, and a larceny from a boat on Tabor Road in Olin.

The victim reported several fishing rods, reels, and other items of fishing equipment had been stolen from the boat.

The responding deputies arrived, and conducted their investigation. While speaking with witnesses, Dustin Tyler Napier was listed as a potential suspect in this case.

On Tuesday, October 29, 2019 Iredell County Sheriff’s Deputies received a call for a domestic disturbance at 542 Tabor Road. According to the witness, Dustin Napier, and his mother were in a verbal argument in the yard.

When the deputies arrived and interviewed a witness it was determined, Dustin Tyler Napier, had broken into a neighbor’s outbuilding the previous night.

Based on this statement along with additional evidence gathered from the investigation, Dustin Tyler Napier was arrested for Misdemeanor Breaking and Entering. He was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he received a 1,500.00 dollar unsecured bond by Magistrate T. Thompson.

Property Crimes Detectives were given this new information as they continued the investigation from October 27th. Through their efforts, they were able to 500.00 dollars’ worth of the stolen property from this initial report. Detectives obtained additional warrants for the arrest of Dustin Napier for Felony Breaking and Entering along with Felony Larceny. Napier was again arrested and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he received a 5,000.00 dollar secure bond by Magistrate D. Sanders on these new charges.
