2-year-old left in hot car in Mooresville, parents arrested

PRESS RELEASE

MOORESVILLE, NC: Around 12:30 p.m. the Mooresville Police Department was notified of a child that was left in a vehicle at 467 River Hwy, Verizon Wireless Store. Caller stated that a white female exited the car and went inside the store leaving a small child behind. The car was not running, and the windows were up. Officer responded and located a 2011 Hyundai Sonata on the property with the small child inside sweating and crying. Emergency medical personnel were called to the attend to the child who was treated at the scene.

The driver, Sarah Elizabeth Hunt 30, of Mooresville and Brandon Ray Burris 27, also of Mooresville were located and arrested. Both were charged with misdemeanor child abuse and transported to the Iredell County Jail. Hunt received a $2500 secured bond. Burris received a $5000 unsecured bond. Child was placed in the custody of a family relative.
