$18,000 of marijuana seized during Iredell traffic stop

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Tuesday May 8, 2018 Sgt. C. Bentley with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office of the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team conducted a traffic stop on a 2007 Cadillac on Garner Bagnal Boulevard for a traffic violation.

Sgt. Bentley advised the driver, Calvin L. Costner, of the violation. During this time Bentley detected the strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Based on the very strong odor, a search of the vehicle was conducted.

During the search 32.58 ounces of high grade marijuana was located along with drug paraphernalia inside the passenger area of the vehicle in a vacuumed sealed bag along with various items of drug paraphernalia. The marijuana is valued at 18,472.00 dollars. Costner was placed under arrest and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Marijuana, Felony Possession of Marijuana, Felony Maintaining a Vehicle for Controlled Substance, and Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia.

Costner was issued a 15,000.00 dollar secured bond by Magistrate D. Chambers.
