Stay-at-Home Order: Winston-Salem/Clemmons

On March 25, 2020, the City of Winston-Salem and the Village of Clemmons issued separate Stay-at-Home and Shelter-in-Place orders in an effort to contain further spread of COVID-19. These will go into effect at 5 PM Friday, March 27 and remain in place through April 16.

Both orders protect real estate related services and construction trades as essential operations that can continue during this time. We will be gathering more information about what activities are encompassed by the resolution language as the situation continues to develop.

Housing, even in times of crisis, is an important and essential component to ensure the safety and well-being of our citizens.

It is crucial that our industry take the following under consideration as we continue to carry out business:

The safety and well-being of our community and our clients are the primary focus of our work at this time.

Existing projects and contracts should take first priority in order to get citizens into safe and secure housing as quickly as possible.

All CDC guidelines MUST be followed by all parties involved in every transaction.

Please be mindful that our designation as essential means that our services are vital to the fabric of our community, not just in terms of economics, but in the overall health and safety of our neighbors, friends, and family. Use caution and common sense in your transactions.

Local government services like inspections, permitting, and Register of Deeds are continuing to operate at this time. Review and response times will be slightly slower due to pandemic-related restrictions, so please be patient and courteous with staff as they work to assist you.
