WSIC morning host Harold Johnson

The radio home of legendary Charlotte sportscaster Harold Johnson has expanded its signal, adding 105.9 FM in the Lake Norman region.

“We’re truly excited, and honored, to bring the great programming of WSIC to Lake Norman,” says Johnson who serves as the station’s morning host. “The show is so much fun to do each day and does a great job of not only informing and entertaining our audiences, but also of driving business for our advertising partners.”

The four-time Emmy award winner, and former WSOC Sports Director, entertains audiences across age demographics with a witty mix of politics, sports, entertainment and local talk from 6 – 8 weekday mornings. WSIC’s new 105.9 FM also features local news, FOX News Radio hourly newscasts, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, the Carolina Panthers, FOX 46 weather as well as other local and national news-talk programming.

“This expansion creates some incredible opportunities,” says Iredell Broadcasting President and CEO Mark Sanger. “Having the new 105.9 FM allows us to help boost the sales and foot traffic of countless businesses by pairing them with an already strong news-talk product.”

Originating from a Mooresville tower, 105.9 FM reaches Denver, Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Lake Norman and other locales in the area. WSIC continues broadcasting on 100.7 FM and 1400 AM in Statesville. Additionally, the station operates WSIC-TV on Continuum Cable channel 4 and over-the-air at 25-2, which serves the Charlotte metro.

“We’ve been working towards this for a while and are truly excited to be part of the great communities around Lake Norman,” says General Manager Brian Weiss.

All of the company’s radio properties have been re-branded as “the station serving all the -villes,” playing on the -ville suffix of many local towns. WSIC’s news and sales departments have adjusted their operations to serve the needs of an expanded audience across the region.

“Our team has already been building relationships in the Lake Norman area,” says WSIC Assistant Manager and News Director Chris Hoke. “These connections in both news and sales will have incredible value in helping us serve this area as its local news-talk station.”
