Deputies responded to the 700 block of Cornelius Road, where they located the victim, Brian Keith Ludwick of Mooresville. The victim was suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Upon speaking with numerous witnesses, the deputies learned the shooting stemmed from a road rage type situation. Ludwick had been traveling on Fern Hill Road in a silver Ford Explorer when he came upon a slow moving passenger vehicle, which he passed. The driver of the slower moving passenger vehicle, then began tailgating the victim’s vehicle.

The incident continued onto Perth Road, and then onto Judas Road. The suspect vehicle drove away, then pulled into the driveway of a residence located at 719 Cornelius Road.

Ludwick who was following, stopped, and exited his vehicle. He approached the other vehicle. The driver of the suspect car then pulled out a handgun, and shot Ludwick in the abdomen. The suspect then sped off on Cornelius Road turning onto Judas Road.

The vehicle operated by the shooter is described as a newer model silver or grey “Nissan Sentra” styled car. The suspect is a white male, possibly in his 20’s to 50’s. He has brown hair, and slight facial hair. He was wearing sunglasses with orange reflective tint.
