Quick-moving storm brings power outages, wrecks

STATESVILLE, N.C. (WSIC NEWS) – There are power outages and wrecks after a quick-moving storm made its way through the region Thursday afternoon.

Iredell County Emergency Communications says a tractor trailer jackknifed on I-77 northbound near the exit for Garner Bagnal Boulevard in Statesville. This created a back-up to nearly the Amity Hill Road exit. There are reports of injuries. There was at least one other wreck on I-77 and another on I-40. ECOM says some may have gone immediately to Highway Patrol.

Nearly 4,000 Duke Energy Customers are without power in Iredell County, but most of those are due to an earlier issue along River Highway in Mooresville. Mecklenburg and Rowan both have about 3,700 outages each.

Iredell ECOM says there are reports of trees down throughout the county.
