Statesville High School renovations to be voted on next week

At the Committee of the Whole meeting last night, the Iredell-Statesville Board of Education heard a proposal to improve the flood zone at Statesville High School Stadium. Currently, the creek north of the stadium, called Free Nancy Branch, frequently floods the public restrooms and concessions area outside the stadium. The project, which is estimated to cost $1.3 million, will move facilities and utilties out of the flood zone, add needed ADA compliant parking, and create additional parking for activity busses. The project will also include new restrooms and a new concession stand for Statesville High School. The renovation will allow improved emergency vehicle access to the stadium.

This project, has been in the works for several years. The item will be presented for a vote next week at the October Board of Education meeting.
