Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell to serve on the Board of Directors for the National Sheriff’s Association

On Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at the National Sheriff’s Association Annual Conference which was held in Louisville, Kentucky, Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell, was elected to the Board of Directors for the National Sheriff’s Association. Sheriff Campbell was appointed to serve on the Board earlier this year. With this election to the Board of Directors, Sheriff Campbell’s appointed position on the board is now converted to an elected one. With this election he is conferred with a three year term on the Board.

The National Sheriff’s Association Board of Directors represents all 3,080 Sheriffs across the United States. The Board sets guidance, and direction for the association. The National Sheriff’s Association is routinely called upon to provide expert testimony on law enforcement, corrections, and court security issues before the United States Congress.

“I am honored, and humbled to have been elected by other Sheriffs from across the country to serve on the National Sheriff’s Association Board of Directors”. Currently, Sheriff Campbell is the only Sheriff from North Carolina to serve in this capacity. “I look forward to continuing to work with Sheriff’s from across the country, by having an opportunity to bring attention to issues which affect law enforcement agencies both locally, as well as nationwide,” said Sheriff Darren Campbell.

The National Sheriff’s Association is one of the largest associations of law enforcement professionals in the United States. It represents over 20,000 members as well as over 3000 elected Sheriffs. The National Sheriffs Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the level of professionalism among Sheriffs, their deputies, and others in the fields of law enforcement, public safety and criminal justice. Over its seventy-eight year history, the National Sheriffs Association has served as an informational resource to all law enforcement, as well as State, and Federal government.
