I-SS elementary students recognized for participating in state math expo

Students from the Iredell-Statesville Schools were recognized on Monday, January 13 at the Board of Education meeting for their participation in the North Carolina State Math Expo. The 2019 state competition was held at the NC School of Science and Mathematics in Raleigh, NC on May 3. The regional and state Math Expos are hosted by the NC Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCCTM). The following students were selected for top honors:

Primary division:
Bridsley Wozny, Woodland Heights Elementary (WHE), Rainbow Ratios, 1st place
Taylor Finger and Madeleine Gerlip, WHE, Cookie Time, Honorable Mention

Elementary Division:
Tyler Carpenter and Grady Wilson, WHE, How Many Nerf Bullets Fit in Our Rooms? Honorable Mention

Intermediate Division:
Cooper Beecham, Coddle Creek Elementary, Spotlight on Me! 1st place
Olivia Stewart, Cool Spring Elementary, Math + baking soda= A recipe to Pass On! Honorable Mention
