Cornelius names new Planning Director

CORNELIUS, NC – Aaron Tucker is now the Planning Director for the Town of Cornelius, taking the baton from Deputy Town Manager Wayne Herron. The change went into effect January 1, after nearly a year of transition planning and training with Wayne.

Aaron originally joined the Town’s Planning department in 2014, and returned to Cornelius in 2018, after a stint with the City of Kannapolis. Since returning, Aaron has served as both Lead Planner, and most recently, Assistant Planning Director.

As Planning Director, Aaron will plan, organize, direct and coordinate the Town’s planning and zoning initiatives. This includes current and future planning, annexation administration, zoning administration, code enforcement as well as oversight and management of community development grants, as required.

Wayne will now be focused on his duties as Deputy Town Manager and will partner with Aaron on special planning projects.

Aaron graduated from Appalachian State University. He has a BS in Geography, with a concentration in Community & Regional Planning.
